TITLE: The Curious Curlew
The Bush Stone-curlew is a large ground-dwelling bird that is unique to Australia. They are a fascinating species known for their cryptic nature and blood-curdling calls during the night. I was lucky enough to get close to a small group that can still be found in inner-city Brisbane. Their beautiful big eyes, lovely feather patterning and quirky behaviour make them a truly endearing bird and a pleasure to photograph.
AUTHOR: Renae Boyd (Australia)
Ever since a family trip to New Zealand when I was 18, I have had a love of photography. I particularly enjoy wildlife photography and have in recent times began to experiment with black and white. As a Conservation Biologist, I am especially passionate about the natural world and photography allows me to showcase it's quiet and often unrecognised beauty.
