TITLE: Heeper St.

Heeper Street is one of the longest streets located in the city of Bielefeld. Within its approximately 5 Kilometers of length it shows a high diversity of architectural types and architecture usage. Bars, shops, car dealers, supermarkets, single-family houses, blocks of flats. All its diversity you can find door to door or sometimes as a hybrid located in one building.

If you walk along this street, you will first be confronted with many individual designs of living and working space. That happens in every street. The private space and the public space meet at the window pane.

What interests me in this work the most is what happens to the cityscape when you take away the individualistic. What happens if you just leave the scaffolding to the houses? What happens when living room plants, decorative items and neon signs disappear from the shop windows?

Ultimately, the basic forms of the different types of architecture become visible. The viewer is no longer distracted, her or his gaze is directed to the outside and not to the inside. The cityscape appears clear and graphic, the architecture moves forward, the residents to the background. The street occurs in full anonymity.
