TITLE: LIFE FROM ABOVE - BARCELONA

AERIAL IMAGERY I CAPTURED OF ONE OF MY FAVOURITE WORLD CITIES. I FOCUSED ON THE BEAUTY, THE SYMMETRY AND THE CURIOSITY OF SCENES OF EVERY DAY LIFE THAT WE TAKE FOR GRANTED WHEN VIEWED FROM OUR USUAL PERSPECTIVE. THE PEOPLE WALKING THE STREETS AND SCENES IN THESE IMAGES ARE OFTEN UNAWARE TO THE BIGGER PICTURE TO WHICH THEY BELONG. THIS SERIES OF IMAGES IS A REMINDER OF HOW OUR DAILY INTERACTIONS WITH EACH OTHER, OUR ENVIRONMENT AND THE ARCHITECTURE OF A CITY MAKE UP OUR SOCIETY.

Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.
