TITLE: gold of the desert
The picture has been taken at Island of Lençois in Brazil. There is a very poor community there, where people have to dig wholes in sand dunes in order to get drinkable water, and they need to throw the bucket in a certain way to gather only the thin superficial water with no sand in it. It is a long and delicate task as they only gather a few water at each bucket throwing and soon the water disappear and they have to dig another whole. I took a serie of pictures of the shadow movements as it looked like a dance. After they have filled their recipients there is another challenge which is to carry it on their head walking long distances in the sand dunes until they arrive at their home made of wood found on the island.
