TITLE: Chinese Gpysy
his is an on-going project about a young dance troupe in China, dance troupe is a very special group inside the society, they live like “Gypsy”, rehearsal, performance, that covered most of their life, they live in the dance world and have very little to do with the outside world. I started my shooting the next day I arrived China, following their journey from one city to another, capturing their shadows on the stage, their shades when the light is off.
It’s a journey of a group of “Chinese Gypsies”, I also see it as a lens of Chinese young generation, their life, their struggle with their dance career, love relations and their future in the rapidly growing Chinese society.
AUTHOR: Ko Mumu (Japan)
Born in China,
studied film and sociology in Japan,
After 5 years of working experience in commercial and film industry,
I decided to give up everything, after traveling more than 30 countries,
I came to Latin America for another adventure,
and started to live a nomadic way.
Photography is the way I chose to express how I see the world.
I guess It’ s hard to find a regional culture that defines myself,
or maybe I'm a mix of all different cultures.
A global nomad.
