TITLE: Land of Tranquility
I grew up in the natural environment of northern Japan with four distinct seasons. I like snowy season especially. It starts at the end of November and continues till the end of March the following the year.
People wait for spring, having dialog with snow in the meantime.
The scene consists of white terrain, the horizon, and the sky. These
impression are deeply engraved in me. I have always had a dialog with this space (comprised of the sky, the horizon, and a snow covered landscape). I can feel the beauty, silence, passage of the time, which can not be felt if one is not in this space.
The method called “Photography” is a means by which these can be exposed to others. This work consists of the sky, and landscape divided by the horizon. This image has only the minimum elements. Existence of a horizon is clear and is a dominant theme of these works.
The horizon is arranged in the center, the sky and the snowy ground is spread above and below. Fade out of the upper and lower edges of the image is applied in order to emphasize the impression of an expanse.
