TITLE: Vanish
¿Whats the purpose of hanging on to something? If change is the only thing that's eternal. Different moods, emotional states and circumstances establish patterns of change during the course of our lives, this series explores that precise moment. The moment of transformation, of vanishing and becoming something else in the process, of reinventing and reshaping ourselves and our current state of mind.
Every pic details a different feeling or state of mind. I use of water to emphasise the change factor, as a liquid or element that represents the natural flow of life, the constant movement of nature and change itself.
AUTHOR: Miguel Cármenes (Ecuador)
Miguel Cármenes, Born in Quito Ecuador in 1990. Discovered photography when he was 18, and his whole family decided to travel to Uruguay, leaving everything behind, he found photography as a way of adapting to the new culture and as a personal exercise to go out and explore. Eventually he became more interested on the manipulation of the image, and what he could archive by rearranging the original concept. He starts film school in 2011, but dosen't want to leave his photography interests behind, so he begins to self taught everything, using himself as a model for most of his early work. Most of his process is based on experimentation, prove and error, and self taught content, his biggest inspirations come from old sci-fi movies and the work of surrealist photographers ranging from Man Ray to more contemporary ones like Eugenio Recuenco. His work has been featured on the front page of several national art magazines, as well as art galleries around the country. Currently he is looking forward to expand his work outside of his country.
