TITLE: Power of Faith
Dondi is a ritual of belief, a ritual of extreme hardship. The devotees wriggle on their belly through a long distance to reach the temple shrine, and they believe, that their prayers will be heard. And all this is done during very hot summer afternoon. So the family members of the devotees pour water on the street to prevent them from getting burnt. Every year during mid of April on Sitala(Hindu Goddess) Puja, this ritual, Dondi takes place in Kalighat area of Kolkata.
Here a devotee is performing extremely strenuous Dondi ritual. Still I did not see any sign of strain on her face. That's the power of faith.
