I work at a charter fishing office in Homer, Alaska; my job gives me the opportunity to meet thousands of people from around the world. This man, came fishing with us and brought his small Yorkshire Terrier. When he found out that I too had a tiny dog, he insisted that the dogs meet. I photographed the moment of their introduction; and was taken aback by the profound joy he had in connecting with this tiny animal. That's why this image is important to me; it shows the small moments in which we lose ourselves to the inherent vulnerability of the human experience. How often do we as modern adults let our guard down, and give-in to the simplest of emotions?
