TITLE: Core
Letícia Zica's work transits with accuracy and balance between her poetics and the firmness of her aesthetic conception, in such a way that, if analyzed in its integrity, her production becomes a cohesive and significant vision on some of the questions that pervade brazilian woman's life of the XXI. century. Using her own body as a starting point, her photographs build a sensitive bridge that connects her to other women, dissipating barriers of individual differences and creating a critical panorama that, in general terms, focuses on situations that are constantly experienced by all who share this gender. Core, at this point, does not set itself up as an exception and nevertheless transcends the regard to the treatment given to its research and labor focus. Through a silent and delicate agreement made with her mother and grandmother, those photographs explores the history of three generations of women in her family, and herself as a member. The serie consists of nine black and white photographs, highlighted in high contrast to highlight the human figure, uses nudity as the most appropriate genre for the metaphorical exposure of the three women in the frame, giving rise to a difficult process where, the measured in that they unveil their bodies to the camera, the timelines become visible and the numerous barriers that have curtailed the freedom of the female body over the years are transposed. The serie was constructed through the gestural interaction between Zica, her mother and her grandmother and, at the time of the process, the photographer conducted the essay asking them to try in gestures what the women of her family meant, creating an unprecedented visual vocabulary that enables contact with what is most secret in each of them.
