TITLE: The business world

The work was done in collaboration with Oui Danse (bricemousset.com), a New York contemporary dance group. Inspired by the mentality, “survival of the fittest,” this work portrays the darkness of the business world, the routine with stress, competition, even cruelty and the desire of escape from the “circus.”

Yingxi “Michael” Shi, an international award winning commercial and fine art photographer, has an uncommon journey in photography. With an MBA and statistics master degree, he worked as a marketing professional in multinational corporations for many years. Yet the business world job does not satisfy his thirst for creating art. Entirely self-taught as a photographer since middle school, his passion has evolved into many works that demonstrate a clean, colorful, character-driven narrative.
 
Michael’s on-going project, “Colors of Dance”, has received critical acclaim from within both the dance and photography worlds. He is an “Alien of extraordinary ability” approved by the US government. His work has been widely recognized by many international awards including the most famous ones – PX3, FAPA, and the Bronze Medal issued by IAAP (International Association of Art Photographers). He has been invited to exhibit his work globally including America, China, Greece, Czech Republic, Austria, Ireland and Dubai.
