TITLE: reflect
I've always been drawn to water and am especially captivated by the overwhelming power of the ocean. I feel like it lives in me, and the idea for this shoot came from wanting to create a visual representation of someone being a reflection of the ocean. After that I just had fun playing with the angles and reflections of my friend and model, Jon. This is the first concept shoot I've ever done, and I'm really excited about how it turned out!
AUTHOR: Emma Brown (United States)
My grandpa gave me his film camera a few years ago. At the end of 2022, my friends and I drove coast to coast across the US just like my grandpa did decades ago with my mom and aunts. Throughout that trip, I sent photos back to him taken by the same camera that saw those places so many years ago. That's where my photographer's journey began.
I'm still new to this, so I'm enjoying the learning and experimentation process. So far I've found a lot of joy in street photography and capturing nature. I also love the slow burn of film photography. Hearing the shutter click and hoping that shot turned out how you planned, only to have to wait a couple of weeks to see if it really did. This is my first competition, and I'm really excited to be a part of it!
