TITLE: Hymns to the night
The hymns to the night are a set of photographs whose theme is the night, love beyond death, the return to oneself to that eternal abstract entity that man wants to obtain, and that is only possible through the night . Each photograph in this series aspires to create a space in which to feel safe from the evolution of time. The nocturnal retraction takes us from the unfathomable immensity of the world to the most intimate depths of our being. In this world, where there is a constant mythological collapse, the imaginary construction is decisive to guarantee the capacity of artistic communication that legitimizes us as human beings. In short, we sing to give ourselves courage in the dark, participating in the timeless nocturnal dimension, allowing the annulment of time by stopping in the present and the eternal fullness of joy.
AUTHOR: Lucas Garcete (Spain)
Lucas Garcete (Ciudad del Este, 2000) spanish photographer.
His photographic work is a poetic discourse that revolves around introspection through the themes of mortality, love (sometimes beyond death), the passage of time and the relationship between nature and the self.
It delves into the various positions regarding the concept of symbolism because its images are symbolic when they represent something more than their immediate meaning.
Along with hanged moons, demons, angels, plague doctors and other metamorphic beings, night is the main protagonist, symbolizing the moment and place in which realities come together, appearing later in the light as something already consolidated. With a kind of romanticism, he combines the mystery of the human condition through his own inner world, creating a dreamlike, metaphysical visual work charged with strong emotional energy.
