TITLE: Smoking: A disease of today´s society?
Smoking kills more people than alcohol, drug accidents, murders, and AIDS patients together within one year. It is one of the most intimate body injuries and harms other people, the passive smokers, 5-times more, than the active smokers.
Is it worth it?
I would like to clarify my personal answer to this question with my picture.
Smoking is part of the everyday life for many people, so it became an important component of their personality. For many, this is so deeply anchored, that they “fuse” with the drug and completely ignore the damage to their health. This smooth transition of “suicide” is shown in the picture based on the human hand, which ends as a cigarette. Its also a representation of the self-mutilation progress over the years. Before the final death, there are also possible physical complaints, “smoking legs”, yellow hands and many more. The hand represents a weapon, that will kill you on long term!
Beside the health aspect, the amount of money for cigarettes is insane. Many people spend their last money on cigarettes, but could need it for much more important things. With a consumption of one pack of cigarettes a day, you need 2.500€ per year!
The aim of my picture is to inspire the viewer to think about this topic and ask himself the question: Is it worth it?

______________
Hello,
my name is Simone Lehmann and im currently 25 years old. I was born in Germany in the black forest and I´m still living there. In my school career, I had many different milestones. I started with my degree in the secondary school, continued with my middle maturity and finished with the general university entrance qualification.
Building on that, I started my job training as a technical product designer and worked in an industry company for three years, with the main focus on creating engineering drawings. During this period of time, I realized, that this job is not what I want to do in the future. The only positiv part was to be creative and inventive. l always had a preference to be creative, also in my private life. There I tried to cover this preference with photography and designing pictures. I was looking for a new career orientation and after many information events and researches, I found a perfect course of study for me: Photodesign. Since march 2018 I´m an photo design student at the Lazi Akademie, close to Stuttgart in Esslingen and heading the end of the 5th semester. Next year I will finish my studies and start my life as a professional photographer.
I had a long development with ups and downs in different environments areas, but in the end, I learned from it and I´m very happy to be in this position as I am now.
