HONORABLE MENTION

TITLE: Six Seconds Remaining
With six seconds remaining in a game we needed to beat to make the playoffs, my son has the ball and the coach's instructions on a challenging play he and his teammates must execute. I shot this intense moment on the court before our victory. This was shot in color, but black and white reigns supreme at capturing the drama of the scene.

I'm a lawyer and single parent with a passion for photography that began when I was eight years old in my dad's darkroom in the basement of our house in Ohio. I loved watching as a tray of liquid magically transformed a stark white piece of paper into a dramatic black and white image of what I had witnessed through the lens. Although I'm no longer in the darkroom and have traveled all over this colorful planet of ours, I believe that black and white photography is queen for capturing the intensity of particular moments in life.
