TITLE: Capital Essence
Madrid has renewed its city souls to modern times… but not entirely. The same streets are still there today, maybe as grand as they’ve ever been. The power of its sidewalks still retains the essence of those former souls that once defined the city’s personality, still present to this day.
I've always been drawn towards people that have a powerful aura of charisma around them, emitting huge doses of magic somehow. I guess that's what some call "soul", and it's only possible to photograph thanks to others unconsciously willing to lend it to us for one thousanth of a second. Madrid is always a perfect place to borrow souls and record them in a photograph.
AUTHOR: Daniel Valledor (Spain)
Even though I’m a graduated Telecoms Engineer, I’ve been a professional commercial photographer and DOP since my mid 20’s. At some point of my journey, I figured out there was a key aspect of my photography potential that was not being developed, especially the most human-hearted content. I struggled hard to rediscover what actually moved me, and it turned out to be the people, which is what initially drew me into photography to begin with. Funny how you lose scope of things sometimes, but I’m thankfully here now, feeling strong and focused.

I hope you enjoy these "souls" as much as I did running across them.
