TITLE: Street Life by Julian Crowe
The Street Life work plays around around a sense of the surreal and often plays on the interactions between people and inanimate things. I photograph people going about their business completely oblivious that they're walking into and momentarily taking part in imaginary surrealistic scenes. They enter the frame from one side and exit none the wiser that they've just walked through the twilight zone.
I also gravitate towards the natural geometries that can be found in the positions of people when in group formations together with the opportunity to capture abstract moments.
It is the completely unpredictable nature of street photography that makes it so interesting. At any point things can align and in a fraction of time a moment can present itself. Finding yourself as part of that alignment is a wonderful thing.
Shooting in black & white allows a more graphic depiction of a scene. Without the distraction of colour, the moment is distilled to its essence.
